  • How many children do they have? 
  • They have only one child.(child/children)
  • How many oxen can you see in the field?
  • I   see only one ox.(ox/oxen)
  • Do you see many sheep grazing there?
  • No. I see only one sheep.(sheep/sheep)
  • How many wives did Rama have?
  • Only one wife that too Only Sita. (wife/wives)
  • How many watches do you have?
  • Sorry! I ave only one watch.(watch/watches)
  • How many glasses are there on that table?
  • I see only one glass there. 
  • (glass/glasses)
  • How many fishes are there in the aquarium?
  • There is only one fish. (fish/fish/fishes)
  • There is honey lying on the floor how many flies can you see there?
  • I see now only one fly. (fly/flies)
  • How many babies did she deliver?
  • She delivered only one baby. ( baby/babies)
  • How many men and women are there near the boat?
  • I see only one man and one woman.(man/men, woman/women)
  • How many calves are there near the cow?
  • I see only one calf.( calf/calves)
  • How many long knives are there in the kitchen?
  • There is only one knife.(knife/knives)

  • In pairs or more than one,
  • They are in plural.

  • Wish becomes wishes,
  • Myself becomes ourselves,
  • Yourself becomes yourselves,
  • Himself/herself/itself becomes 
  • Themselves,
  • Wife becomes wives,
  • Knife becomes knives,
  • Life becomes lives,
  • And
  • Child becomes children,
  • This becomes these,
  • That  becomes those.
  • This is the way
  • A singular can be made
  • As a plural.
